Today in class we continued watching the video. The people who were receiving the surgery on their eyes by the famous doctor from Nepal who came to North Korea to help them were selected by the government. It shows the Doctor giving them the surgery. People can say that the Northern Korean government gives everything free. Thats not really true because they don't have lots of medications, some of them can't find food or homes. More than 40% of the North Korean children remain unnourished. Their growth is stunted. The narrator and the doctor visit the home of a blind woman.
In North Korea there are people that are starving; there are people that don't have homes and people still worship and love this Great Leader. The Great Leader uses Concentration Camps to strike fear into the people of North Korea. There are camps that are the size of small cities and than their are larger ones.
One of the camps name is 22.
The guards of the camps were instructed to not treat the people in the caps as human beings. People would be shot for just looking for a mouse to eat. The littlest things, the people of the camps would be shot over.
People didn't know how or why they ended up there. Usually if people went in they never came out alive. The camps were supposed to keep them loyal to the leader. Many people were so desperate they tried t escape anyway. There is one guy who risks his life to try to bring the people to freedom by telling them which parts to look out for on there way to freedom. You can never tell when you are going to be arrested by the Chinese police or shot at the boarder. The thousands who have fraught out of North Korea to China only a few had made it.

- South Korea officially the Republic of Korea and sometimes referred to simple as Korea, is a country in East Asia, located on the southern portion of the Korean Peninsula. It is neighbored by the People's Republic of China to the west, Japan t the east, and North Korea to the north. Its capital is Seoul, which is also its largest city. South Korea lies in temperate climate region with a predominantly mountainous terrain. Its territory covers a total area of 99,392 square kilometers and has a population of 50 million. They have wonderful schools, cool neat houses, and a great government/ They are just like America except that speak a different language. People work day and night. At night tht have beautiful lights and starry skys. They have cool clothes, action figures, and cool breezy days. Their lunch is free an dwe have cool shoes that you have to wear inside the school. It is a busy city, you have mini marts everywhere. Even at the age of 6 you can go shopping by yourself, but you can't be below age 6.
5 and 6
- 6. At the end of World War II, the governments of the United States and the Soviet Union decided that the Soviet Union would invade the Japanese held territories of mainland Asia south to the 38th Parallel and the United States would invade north to the same point. In 1948,with a failure to unite the two areas, elections were held and the new South Korea came under the power of Syngman Rhee. Kim Il-sung took power in North Korea.
On June 25 June, 1950, communist North Korean forces crossed the 38th parallel into democratic South Korea.
The 38th parallel, as the pre-war boundary between the countries, became the focal point for negotiations of a cease fire. There has been no peace treaty, only a cease fire. The 38th parallel continues to be the most highly defended border in the world across the 3 mile wide Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).
5. North Korea and and the East China Sea border South Korea.
North Korea
North Korea is one of the most secretive countries on earth.
Roughly the size of Mississippi.
Everyone is trained from birth to love their leader. Cell phones have been banned.
North Korea is known as the Hermit country, because it seems isolated from the rest of the world.
A guy from Nepal will be performing over 1000 eyes surgeries in less than a week. A guy from North Korea will meet them in Nepal and are going to monitor their only move. They will sneak a camera into North Korea and we will get to see the life of North Korea. The narrator of the video is probably going to be the only American in the whole country.
The minders take the doctor to see what it is like to be under the ruler of North Korea. He controls everything.
In North Korea they are still mad and uneasy with outsiders because of a war that happened fifty years ago.
